How implant treatment works
Most implants are completed in two phases, with a healing period in between that lets the implant bond securely to your bone.
Phase 1: Placement. Using precise surgical techniques, your periodontist places the titanium implant into a carefully prepared site in the jawbone and closes the gum tissue over it. Over the next 3–6 months, the implant fuses with the bone to form a strong, permanent base.
Phase 2: Restoration. Once healing is complete, a small connector (abutment) is attached to the implant and your new crown, bridge, or denture is secured on top, completing a replacement that blends right in with your natural teeth.
